DISCRIPTION Fairly easily recognised by its blunt snout.They are a bronzey colour with dark edged scales.

HABITAT They prefer fast flowing water and tend to hide in quite shadey places like weed beds and overhanging trees.
FEEDING HABITS Will feed day or night,but a stealth like approach is needed as they are very alert.
NATURAL FOOD SOURCE Small fish,insects,molluscs,worms,slugs.
LIFE CYCLE Reaches maturity at 3-7 years for the male and 4-8 years female with a total lifespan of around 10-12 years.Spawning occurs from April to June with eggs of anything up to 100,000.
TACKLE Varies not only from venue to venue but also day to day.They tend to go on a surging run so fairly strong tackle is needed.However,too heavy and the sensitive chub will detect it,too light and you loose it.
